THE PRODUCTION COMPANY PASSION PLANET BROUGHT US IN TO CRAFT A SERIES OF ‘landscape transformations’ for the PBS Nature program "The Serengeti Rules".
These transformations appear throughout the show, dramatically demonstrating how landscapes and habitats can be profoundly affected by the introduction or removal, of a single "keystone" species.
THE morph-like transformations HAD TO BE BUILT FROM NOTHNG MORE THAN LANDSCAPE PHOTOS, WHICH SHOWED THE 'before' AND 'after' STATES OF THE LANDSCAPES, YET WE WERE TASKED WITH MAKING THE FINAL SEQUENCES as filmic, and dimensional as possible.
Through 2.5D and full 3D set ups, using animated luma matte reveals, we move into the transforming photographs, sensing the undulations of the landscapes, the flow of rivers, seeing them change before our eyes.
